There are usually several options out there and some engage in high-pressure sales tactics to try and recruit members. You need to find a way to evaluate them on an objective basis, rather than simply letting the one with the best sales-pitch win your business. If you evaluate a gym on the following criteria, you’ll stand a much better chance of finding a gym that fits your needs. Evaluate the Facility

This one is a little trickier, but if you spend some time carefully observing your environment when you test the place out, you should get a sense of it. See how hard the staff tries to get you to commit to long membership periods. Watch the floor and see if trainers are approaching patrons and trying to gain clients. A certain amount of this is normal. However, some gyms have trainers that border on harassing customers in order to get personal training clients. Working out in this type of environment is no fun, especially if you’re an experienced fitness buff and don’t need a trainer in the first place.
